SOUTH FLORIDA – Finatic Records Is Back! After taking a break from the music business, Finatic Records returns with the ‘Soca Jam EP’, an island-flavored project aimed at getting party animals on the dancefloor.

The title track, done by Grub Cooper, was released on July 4. ‘Roll Your Waist’ by Honorebel, ‘Caribbean Ting’ by Mr. Easy and a remix of ‘Roll Your Waist’ with Honorebel and Ackah Dan are also on the ‘Soca Jam EP’.

Finatic Records who has worked with big names such as Bob Andy, Dennis Brown and Cutty Ranks as well as Miami-based artist Trini, was ready for a change of pace after years of producing reggae artists.

“After a long hiatus from music production l am not moving away from reggae, but l have a popular Soca Jam website and I use it to promote entertainment events,” said Dennis CEO of Finatic Records. “I am planning to promote some Soca Events next year in Trinidad, New York and Jamaica, so these Soca Songs are to bring awareness to my Soca Jam Promotions.”

Grub Cooper

The first person who came to mind for this Soca Venture was Drummer/Arranger/Vocalist – Grub Cooper, who is known for his work with The Fabulous Five Band in Jamaica. He created and wrote some of their biggest Soca Hits including ‘All Night Party’ and ‘Feeling Horny’.

Cooper said once he heard the draft of ‘Soca Jam’, there was no hesitation about getting on board. 

“His (Dennis) thought process is worldwide which I totally subscribe to because music today is a nig melting pot. The Soca Jam has a lot of potential,” he said. He looks forward to doing many more project with Finatic Records.

Founding Member

Cooper, who is from Jamaica, is one of the founding members of the band The Fabulous Five Incorporated. The band also known as Fab Five, has been a staple in the reggae and dancehall scene for over 50 years.

Prolific Career

Over his career, Cooper has collaborated with many renowned artists, including the Marley family and Grace Thrillers. He’s also written numerous songs and produced albums. 

Unique Vision Band

Grub Cooper and Frankie Campbell also manage Unique Vision Band, which includes visually impaired musicians. 

Leaving the Band

After over 50 years with The Fabulous Five, Cooper has embarked on a solo career, though his legacy with the band remains significant, according to the Jamaica Observer. He was their musical director, arranger and wrote some of their biggest hits including the Soca anthems All Night Party, Feeling Horny and Jamaican Woman.

Beyond the Band

In addition to his work with the band, Cooper has also written and produced music for other artists, including Grace Thrillers, and has been recognized with awards such as the Order of Distinction (OD) for his contributions to Jamaican music. 

Honorebel

Initially, Cooper’s track was to be the only song for ‘Soca Jam’, but Dennis eventually approached Mr. Easy and Honorebel to voice on the up-tempo beat. He has even bigger plans.

“I am considering Soca Artists from other Caribbean Islands,” he said. Honorebel is no stranger to Finatic Records. He has several dancehall tracks on the label.

Career

Next to join the team was Honorebel with his stunning performance on “Roll It.” Honorebel began his career in the late 1990s, recording reggae, hip hop, dancehall and EDM music. He soon found himself collaborating with reggae legends such as Sly and Robbie, while infusing Hip-Hop Beats with producers like Scott Storch and EDM with Benny Benassi, Dj Snake, Afro Jack, Rune RK, Robbie Rivera and Tommy Trash just to name a few.

Collaborations

Honorebel has collaborated with artist such as the queen of reggae/dancehall Lady Saw, Gyptian, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Pitbull, Sean Kingston, Akon, Flo Rida and Willy Chirino just to name a few.

Ultra Records Deal

In August 2009, Honorebel signed a deal with Ultra Records, American indie EDM label. Within a month, He released his hit single “Now You See It (Shake That Ass)” featuring American rapper Pitbull and Jump Smokers in September 2009 and it takes the EDM club scene by storm world-wide.

YouTube Views

His release “Now You See It (Shake That Ass)” has over 60 million views on YouTube, went #1 in 24 different countries world-wide, peaked at #22 on Billboard’s Top 100 Dance Chart, #34 on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart. The song remained on the charts for multiple weeks. The single was released as a digital download on October 5, 2009, and was also included on Honorebel’s second album, “Club Scene” in 2010, under Ultra Records.

Mr. Easy

Mr. Easy who is famous in the Dancehall Scene for hits like “Drive Me Crazy”, “Funny Man”, and “Gone A Lead” was recruited by Honorebel to be on the project. After hearing the beat, he was all in. With his versatility, he seamlessly transformed and delivered a high-energy anthem “Caribbean Ting“.

Collaborations

Mr. Easy’s career includes collaborations with major Dancehall Artists such as Shaggy, Beenie Man, and Sean Paul. His 2000 album “Reggae Music” solidified his status as a Dancehall Heavyweight.

Relevance

Despite the evolving music industry, Mr. Easy has remained relevant by staying true to his roots and connecting with his audience.

Finatic Records

Back in the day, Dennis released some of the hottest dancehall-reggae jams in South Florida.  As he planned a comeback to the music business, the Jamaican had a change of beat in mind.

Conclusion

Finatic Records is back with a vengeance and ready to take the music industry by storm. “I have done it before, and ready to take on this new challenge and do it again,” said Dennis.
